Every registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain to the servers of a specific hosting provider. That way, you have got both your site and your e-mails handled by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are lots of other records, for example A and MX. The first one shows which server deals with the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one shows which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, any time you type a domain address in your browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of another service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having different records for the site and the e-mails means that you may have your website and your emails with two different companies if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every Linux shared website hosting we provide, allows you to view, change and create A and MX records for any domain name or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you will be able to view a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update won't take you more than a few clicks. Creating new records is equally easy if, for example, you wish to use the e-mail services of another provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You may also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it will contact the next one. Using our state-of-the-art tool, you're going to be able to control the records of your domain addresses and subdomains with ease even when you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any one of your domain addresses or subdomains is incredibly easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are managed by using our in-house built Hepsia CP, which has a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you can click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record is as simple as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not encounter any difficulties if you decide to direct your site or e-mails to an alternative provider while keeping the second service with our company. When necessary, you can also create additional MX records and set a specific priority depending on the instructions of the new provider.
