A subdomain is a part of a web address that's under the main domain, such as name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every single subdomain could have its own website and records and can even be hosted with a different provider if you need to use some feature that isn't provided by your current provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site and an online store under a subdomain where customers can acquire your products. You can also have a forum in which they can talk about the products and by employing subdomains instead of subfolders you are going to avoid any risk of all websites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the websites separated is also less risky in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Website Hosting

Our shared website hosting plans will permit you to set up many subdomains for any domain hosted in your account without any hassle. Assuming that the main domain is added, it takes two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and pick what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for quick access and management. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using instant access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the amount of subdomains that you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Through our semi-dedicated server plans, you will be able to create an unlimited amount of subdomains for any one of the domains you add as hosted in the account. It will take a few mouse clicks to set up a new subdomain and throughout the process you will be able to add custom-made error pages for it, choose if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP, change the default folder that it's going to access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains you've got inside the account are going to be arranged under their root domain from a to z and you will be able to see and handle all of them with ease. By using fast access buttons and right-click menus you'll be able to jump to the site files inside the File Manager area or check logs, visitor statistics and other information about any one of your subdomains.
